Batman returns - Batman Returns Reviews

The caped crusader, or dark knight whatever you call him has returned to Gotham City. Michael Keaton is back as Batman in this sequel to the 1989 original with the same director Tim Burton. Unfortunately most of the best lines are stolen by the villains. Danny DeVito dominates the film as the evil Penguin who is trying to learn his past and change his future, while at the same time framing Batman. There is also the appearence of Michelle Pfeiffer as the curvacious and mysterious Catwoman. Also plotting to take over the city with the help of the Penguin is the popular Christopher Walken. An interesting sequel, not a lot of the magic like the original but still a very good classic. Try it!

Last great batman movie of the series - Batman Returns Reviews

Michael Keaton returns as the Caped Crusader in Gotham City to rid the Penguin (Danny Devito) and his band of circus freaks. Michelle Pheiffer is Selina Kyle who transforms herself into the slinky Catwoman after her boss (Christopher Walken) pushes her through a window and leaving her for dead. Penguin and Catwoman form a partnership to frame Batman, making the city think that he is the foe. This was the last great film in the series, but it went downhill after.

Batman returns - Batman Returns Reviews

This is not the Batman that you will enjoy, but it's still worth watching. I just didn't like the villains in this one. Peguin was so ugly to look at, and the way how he at the fish that Max gave him ( Christopher Walken ). Catwoman, man she was the worst villian ever! Batman Returns is Tim Burton's worst Batman, yet it's fun.

The best - Batman Returns Reviews

i love this movie! out of all 5 batman movies, this is the best one! all the actores are great. they all look good and do a very good job! i'm in love with this movie. the visual effects were outstanding. the music was great... very sad. the interesting part was between batman and catwoman- will they stay together? but when we see all the other movies... we understand that bruce forgot about selina, unfotrunatelly. but if you think that this movie is the last one so it makes you feel good- it's either selina, or no one! well, i love this movie no matter what!

A child's nightmare - Batman Returns Reviews

This is probably going to be the hardest review I've penned yet. For how do you critique something that is so close to your heart. I have known the Batman series since I was a toddler, and over the years I have watched each film probably thousands of times, and positively devoured all there is to know about them. Yes, how to do this... 'Returns' is probably the easiest of the Bat-Films to review, though, for up until just years ago, I really didn't like the movie. It was too dark for my young age, too horrific a picture of my favorite Superhero. But now, after I have "matured" as they say, I fully understand and appreciate all that Tim Burton was both showing and telling in the visual masterpiece of a film. The story is slightly lacking when compared to the depth of a movie like Spider-Man 2, but when compared to the average Superhero Sequel it is quite good. Michael Keaton is back as Batman, and in the episode must lock horns with the grotesque, and seemingly born-evil Penguin (DeVito), as well as the mentally unstable Catwoman, played by Michelle Pfeiffer. The Penguin?s motis operandus, is to kidnap ever first born male in Gotham, this stems from his parents dumping him into the sewer as an toddler (What would you do if your kid ate your cat!). This plan goes awry however when the scheming business-man Max Shrek, played masterfully by Chris Walken, convinces the Penquin, or to call him by his real name, Oswald Copplepot, to run for mayor of Gotham. The Catwoman's sole goal is to reap revenge on Shrek, who threw her out of a tenth story window when she was just a lowly secretary. But this quest as well gets put on hold as Catwoman develops a hate for Batman, and her alter-ego Selina Kyle develops of liking of Bruce Wayne. However the two villains' side-tracked goals do not stay on hold for long, and in the end, Batman must save the day once again. The acting is, quite frankly, superb. Keaton another excellent performance as the Dark Knight; giving him just the right mixture of debonair and mystery. DeVito and Pfeiffer are almost incarnations of their characters, doing just what Jack Nicholson had done just three years before, breathing such life and energy into these super villains?. But the real gem this production has to be, the always amazing Christopher Walken, who takes the Shrek character so far, you begin to wish he was the main character. As I said above, the story is pretty good. But the real reason to see Batman Returns lies in Director Burton's specialty: visual effects, and art direction. Both of these are simply superb. The film really does look like a child's nightmare, with the Penguin as it's specter, and Gotham City serving as a backdrop. All the Characters Batman, Catwoman, Shrek, are all ghouls in this masterpiece of film art. But, yet, you're left wondering, why? Why does he always have to push it too far? Yes, as Tim Burton has done in most of this films, like a vulgar comedian, he just takes it too far. It was a brilliant move by Burton to make the Penguin and all his circus freak side-kicks grotesque demon, but he nearly ruins this by making them too grotesque. Instead of amazing the viewing audience, they horrify them. Burton seems, as a director, to lack a sense of tact in dealing with his nightmarish incantations. If done right, the Penguin and his gang would be as beautiful piece of art as the Mona Lisa, but instead Burton, much like the Joker did in the first Batman movie, tosses cans of paint onto this masterpiece, tarnishing it, deflecting the viewer's eye from the true art beneath, to the hideous vale of revulsion covering it. Overall, Batman Returns is, of course, a very good movie, that most older viewers will surely appreciate for it?s originality, and visual beauty. But never have I seen a film flawed quite like this, a film who's best attribute, Tim Burton's brilliant visual imagination, is also it's worst.

Batman rules - Batman Returns Reviews

Contrary to popular belief I think this is a much better film than the first. Although the penguin was not as sick or frightening as the joker he had more depth and motive to his character. Catwoman was also played flawlessly by Pfeiffer who really conveyed the duality and struggle for normality present within her character. What was unclear however was how her transformation occurred... a cat bit her finger, so she became a cat? What always surprises me about Batman films is how little time the story focuses on Batman himself : much more time is devoted to the villains. However they are a lot more interesting than Batman himself who, despite Keaton's attempts to make him humorous, is boaring. As with the first film the sweeping moonlit views of Gotham city bring a dark and sinister nature to this film.

Better then the first - Batman Returns Reviews

I enjoyed Batman Returns even more then the the first one. Even if Danny Devito is extremely gross as The Penguin, fans of the comic book will enjoy how well he portrayed The Penguin. And Michelle Pfeiffer does and excellent job at playing Catwoman. And I still think that after Kilmer and Clooney, Michael Keaton was simply the best Batman. We'll see how Christain Bale does in the upcoming Batman: Intimidation.

Michael keaton is the best batman out there - Batman Returns Reviews

The first two Batman movies are awesome. They are Dark, Great acting, and The best batman character. The last two were not even close to the first two. In 3 and 4 I did not like the characters who played batman. I did not like Batgirl either. This movie is excellent. If you liked these movies watch Daredevil or Spider-man.

So hot, so sexy... it's batman!!!! - Batman Returns Reviews

This movie is so kick-ass! Michelle is so sexy I swear. The Penguin was really scary to me growing up but it's all good. I hope the way Michelle brought the cat out that Halle Berry can match that because I don't sincerely don't think she can. I mean the costume really sucks CHODE!!! I hope the change the costume design. It's so whack. I think this movie really set the bar. It was so imaginational. It was a really dark movie and thats probably why it's so famous. The way the set Batman was what we all look in him for. The dark, rich, and falls in love with the hottest villan in the history of comics or any other action hero. Now what would really be a match is WonderWoman having woopy with Catwoman, or the famous now "WonderWoman v.s. Catwoman". Now who has the mind Tim Burton?

Dark kinght returns - Batman Returns Reviews

WOW. That describes this movie. This was a great masterpiece. It showed the origin of both the villians, Catwoman and the Penguin, it also showed the romance between Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne and the hatred between Catwoman and Batman. This movie was great and is very well done with humor.

Without tim burton... - Batman Returns Reviews

this movie wouldn't be the same. the hilarious, yet, corny lines kept me laughing and the action was very stylish. worth renting but I don't know about ownership. it was really long and somewhat slow at parts.

Death to adam west - Batman Returns Reviews

Wow! Tim Burton IS a genius. The wonderfully innovative BATMAN put an end to the Adam West state of mind usually associated with Batman. Gotham city was so wonderfully dark and gothic opposed to the bright, sunny city we've seen so many times in the 60's. Now, with the second Batman film, he's done an even greater job. With a bigger budget, he was able to make gotham even more daunting and menacing than the first movie. The abandoned zoo set was so twisted and bizarre, it made my teeth chatter. Becuase of the success of the first one, he was allowed to be a little more creative this time around. Burton is the perfect director for these movies. The soundtrack is still amazing and so dark, it gives me goosebumps. The cast was perfect. Danny DeVito was so good he was creepy. It probably helped that he had to play a creepy guy. Michael Keaton continues to astound me. He isn't a tough guy, but he can be very menacing-looking. Christopher Walken does well as a corrupt, corporate executive. I wouldn't change a thing. It's a surprise that Tim Burton didn't direct the other two Batmen movies, considering the success of the first two. Joel Shumacher is the most terrible choice for Batman. He added too much color and the soundtrack was too happy. Was he drunk when he was casting? Val Kilmer is not Batman, Chris O'Donnell is not Robin, and Arnold Scwarzneggar is NOT Mr. Freeze. He's been bringing us back to Adam West-like movies while Tim Burton has been moving us away from them. Hopefully Christopher Nolan will try to emulate Burton's efforts with the fifth Batman movie coming in 2005.

Best - Batman Returns Reviews

"The last good batman movie there is from all the batman movies great actors, story line, props truly batman part one and 2 are the best off all of them"

Batman returns - Batman Returns Reviews

It's christmas in Gotham and the black streets are layered with thick snow. But this christmas wont be merry for Bruce Wayne, because once again the city is plagued by crazy carnies and for the second time in this explosive series "The Bat" puts on his sunday best, kicks some serious bad booty and falls in love with the damsel that causes him the destress. "The Penguin" wants to be mayor and his clever little carnies will do anything to distract the hero from getting in his way. Never mind the circus folk, what about "The Cat" shes a clever little kitty that has Batman and Bruce Wayne by the tongue. Does he stop the bird brain and his bunch of bandits from running the city into hell? Does the cat claw her way into his heart and live perrrrfectly ever after? This is a seductive sequal that will have you clawed to your seat. You will enjoy this birds eye view of Gotham like never before. When crime strikes back Batman will Return!

Long live the dark crusader! - Batman Returns Reviews

I guess I found this Batman movie slightly better than the original was because it was driven by a more engaging story. Tim Burton is perfect for the Batman films. He just has a very interesting direction I always respected.

Awsome!!! - Batman Returns Reviews

This movie was great. The story plot, characters, and action was all magnificant. Thought I think that if it's possible that micheal keaton can play in the nest batman movie it would be a great come back for him.

The greatest movie of all time - Batman Returns Reviews

Since I was little, I have been obsessed with Batman. I grew up with Batman. At Halloween I dressed as him. He was my hero. And when a movie based on him came out, I was excited. When the second came out, I was exhilarated! Excelent movie!

Damn right!!! - Batman Returns Reviews

This movie was mad good i loved everything about it i think i watched it five times in a week. The casting was wicked good Danny Devito is the best penguin and Michelle Phifer is the only person who can play as catwomen. But this is my favorite Batman movie and was wicked good they should make another Batman with Catwomen in it for sure with Tim Burton directing it!! So rent it if your a Batman fan or just like good movies you'll love it!!!

Batman returns - Batman Returns Reviews

Although this is not my favorite Burton film it is still great. With great characters and cast (Christopher Walken, Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny DeVito, etc.) and a great story this movie keeps you entertained the whole way through. The visuals are stunning, too.

Great characters! - Batman Returns Reviews

I loved this movie!! I've always been a fan of Catwoman since i was little--i was her for halloween and i have bunches of toys. This movie was awesome. I'm older now and I still watch it like every weekend. It's awesome. They are making a Catwoman movie now, and I really really wish they had Michelle Pfiffer but the main Character for Catwoman is Halle Berry. I think its really bad. But its not my decision. I hope the movie comes out well, though i doubt it will. Which stinks. But anyways...Catwoman is the bomb and she really did great in this movie. Tim Burton did so well. He's very gifted.

The last excellent batman flick - Batman Returns Reviews

Personally, I love thius flicl. From the time I saw it in second grade, I was hooked. The tale of the caped crusader (played by Michael Keaton) battling against the sewer dwelling Penguin (Danny DeVito) and the seductive/destructive Catwoman (played by Michelle Pfiefer) is the best Batman movie ever made. It has a mixture of action, comedy, and even has its thrills at times. This movie is guaranteed to pelase any audience. Also, the score for the film is excellent (by Danny Elfman) as well.

Beutifully done - Batman Returns Reviews

In my opinion the first Batman was great, the last two sucked (Batman & Robin way more than Batman Forever", and Batman Returns was the best of them all. The Penguin was was wonderfully done by Danny DeVito plus the makeup on him was great. You could see how he was so disgusting that his parents didn't want him. Catwoman was just... well... sexy. Michelle done a fantistic job and Catwoman was so much better than Vicky Vale from the last movie. All Vicky did was scream. Once again, Batman was done by Micheal Keaton and once again, he did great. Mr. Walkens did really well and over all the movie rock. Should of won an Oscar.

Michelle pfeiffer deserves an oscar - Batman Returns Reviews

"Batman Returns" is not as groundbreaking as "Batman" (1989) but it does have one key element the first one lacked: Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. Tim Burton returns as the director for a sequel almost as good as the first, and also just as dark and haunting. Michael Keaton, who is the best Batman hands down, is in suspicion of another evil. This time it's played by a very makeuped Danny DeVito, as a deformed person forced to live in sewers below Gotham City and brought to love by Penguins, so of course his name is: Penguin. His plan of destruction? To robotically set all of his babies off as time bombs and blow up Gotham. I have always thought DeVito's character to be the weakest of all "Batman" movie villains. His structure is too glazed with remorse, and he doesn't have much for weapons except an unbrella. "Batman Returns" real villain is a woman. Michelle Pfeiffer once again proves she was probably the best contempary screen actress of the early 1990s, and was rewarded the Star Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress 1992 for this role as a victimized secratary who doesn't know how to speak up for herself and has no life. One night, another villain (Christopher Walken in the classic Walken role) decides he doesn't need her and throws her out of the 20 story building. She is brought back to life by alley cats, and in the movie's best scenes, transforms into Catwoman and does back flips and one-lines perfectly. She is neither good or bad, but I detected she was more of a villainess once her and Batman went at it. Her retracting nails are a highlight, and her performance in the black sequened dress at a party is too remarkable for words. The emotion and sexiness that drips from her facial beau is timeless. "Batman Returns" is dark, depressing and not very much fun. But it works. The action scenes are great, Keaton and DeVito do what they can, and again, Pfeiffer gets the grand ovation.

Batman is middle, batman return is excellent!! - Batman Returns Reviews

alike T2, batman retrun is wonderful sequel. A little more..to be exact. batman return isn't sequel. This is woderfui great movie. Cat-woman is fascinating, sex appeal. there is no doubt about this movie hero cat and penguin.. Otherwise..last scene penguin's funeral ceremony musts't extremely impressed to me..also cat-woman mustn't give deep impression to me. Of curse , our batman wonderful, too...

Not as good as the first. - Batman Returns Reviews

I didn't expect it to be as good as the first, but it is still good. The reason many people don't like it is because the entire movie and set sets off to weird of a vibe for a Batman movie. Yes, Tim Burton did good on the first but this is just going overboard with changing the style of a batman movie. To me, it will always be a good movie because I grew up with it as a kid. It does have some good fight scenes, but it lacked some. It's worth seeing for fans of batman like me.

Best batman ever - Batman Returns Reviews

Ten reasons why this is the best Batman Movie. 1. The Characters 2. The Story 3. Timeless feel--not found in any other Batman movie 4. Tim Burton's artistic style 5. The symbolism and foreshadowing through out the film. 6. Danny Elfman's musical score 7. The "reveal" scene between Batman and Catwoman 8. The animatronic 9. The customs 10. Non-Hollywood ending
